Alec lives in Washington, DC and has been going to at least one “thing” – a concert or festival, comedy show, play, musical, or some other performance of some kind – every week* since September 2015 and documenting it all on Instagram with the hashtag #athingaweek.

 

Initially a New Year’s resolution that was equal parts about getting out to explore DC more and discovering newer artists (like, ones who debuted post-1979), the most common questions about #athingaweek are “Every week?” (yes*) and “When will you stop?” (never).

 

He’s now been to about 500 things at more than 175 venues in 30+ states (including DC, statehood now) and 18 countries, from Iceland to Spain to Japan.

 

When he’s not at a show, he can likely be found either at home with his dog Otis or at his real job in corporate consulting.
